Reading Comprehension on the Internet
Dear Class,
I invite you to discuss these questions on this blog: Please take both sides to play the devil's advocate.
Three reasons why you agree, three reasons why you disagree and then your own reasoning with support. You might want to respond to each others ideas as a way to prepare for the midterm.
1. Is the comprehension process different on the Internet?
2. Are these processes extensions of traditional comprehension skills, or do Web-based learning environments demand fundamentally different skills?
3. What new thought processes are required beyond those needed to comprehend conventional print ?
4. If comprehension is different on the Internet, what implications do these differences have for comprehension instruction, assessment, and professional development?
